OVERVIEW OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Utilizing expertise in image processing, contribute as a member of a highly collaborative team of senior engineers and scientists on initiatives pertaining to the development of optical diagnostic imaging technology for cancer detection. Collaborate with other members of the project team to meet defined scientific and technical needs, expectations and goals.
- Provide technical and/or professional coordination and leadership in the execution of day-to-day program activities, as appropriate to STI Medical program objectives.
- Proactively recommend, lead, and execute tasks and strategies in support of STI's various project requirements.
- Partner throughout the research and product lifecycle with Medical Programs, Image Processing, and other related STI business units.
- Other duties as may be assigned by management in the pursuit of the operational goals of STI.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ph.D. or advanced degree in electrical engineering, image processing, computer science or other similarly technical field required.
- Exceptional mathematical and analytical skills required.
- Enjoy solving complex problems using a mixture of creative ideas that you bring to the table required.
- Understanding of image processing as it relates to the development of medical equipment highly desired.
- Understanding of colorectal cancer desirable.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
- Mastery working with C/C++, Java, MATLAB, and Simulink.

OVERVIEW OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Collaborate with the Electronic Hardware Team to gather requirements, develop functional specifications, and facilitate the design, development, testing and implementation of STI's electronic medical systems.
- In collaboration with team members provide direction and leadership for current system software design related to the electronic and electromechanical prototypes necessary to advance the research initiatives of STI.
- Actively guide the design planning, validation and verification phases of the software components of STI's various digital imaging medical projects.
- Proactively recommend, lead, and execute system design strategies in support of STI's various medical project requirements.
- Utilize both new and existing software code functions, blocks, and systems to develop software applications in support of STI projects.
- Develop software on integrated development environments such as Microsoft Visual Studio, Microsoft .NET, and similar IDE's.
- Be familiar with firmware and embedded processing software development.
- Assist in internal testing modules focused on the early identification of coding and stress problems.
- Actively participate and contribute during design and code reviews.
- Collaborate with other members of the project team to meet defined technical needs, expectations and goals.
- Partner throughout the product lifecycle with other STI business units.
- Assist in internal testing modules focused on the early identification and resolution of electronic hardware performance problems.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum of 3-5 years of directly relevant work experience required.
- Bachelor's degree in related field required; advanced degree in relevant field preferred.
- Demonstrated skill in all facets of system design, digital imaging design required.
- Advanced proficiency and understanding of PC hardware and peripherals required.
- Expertise in system design as it relates to CPU's, DSP's, required. FPGA knowledge and experience preferred.
- Mastery working with C/C++ and a willingness to learn additional programming languages as necessary required.
- Proficient knowledge and experience coding in numerous platforms, with particular skill operating in a Windows environment required.
- Systems-level understanding of low level driver software programming required.
- Superior conceptual, analytical, and problem-solving abilities required.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
- Demonstrable aptitude for effectively learning STI systems and products required.

OVERVIEW OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- The Software QA and Test Engineer will lead the Software QA effort for software on embedded electronic systems.
- Define test strategies and identify testability requirements for software projects.
- Develop and execute software test plans and verification and validation procedure based upon software and system specifications.
- Create and run test scripts, perform regression testing and analyze results
- Create test reports and recommended corrective actions reports
- Maintain effect communicate with the project software engineers on project limitation, issues, capabilities, performance requirements and hardware interface changes.
- Follow established design control processes to ensure high quality and efficient product development from Concept to final System Verification and Validation.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science or related field required; advanced technical degree or an equivalent understanding earned through related experience in biomedical systems technologies in relevant field preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years experience in Software QA/Test or directly relevant work experience required.
- Candidates should have extensive experience in testing complex software systems preferably in the medical device, telecom or consumer electronics domain.
- Proven ability to translate user needs to formal requirements required.
- Experience with software testing tools and automation required.
- Experience in both white box and black box testing preferred.
- Experience in testing C++, Linux, FPGAs programs and scripting languages preferred.
- Superior conceptual, analytical, and problem-solving abilities required.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
- Demonstrable aptitude for effectively learning STI systems and products required.
- Knowledge of ISO 9001-2000, ISO 13485, CE, UL, IEC 60101 and FDA Quality System Regulation and Verification and Validation requirements preferred.
